The Scattered Jewels was a lockdown band to start. Friends, and friends of friends, who played live together in various situations for years were isolated, as we all were. But music still had to be made. So a band coalesced around Jeffrey Berg’s songs, and Brad Hallen’s connections and enthusiasm to move forward, creating something special. The ten songs on this first record from The Scattered Jewels present a unique picture of time and place, recorded in various spaces and places over the course of nearly a year in isolation. Special mention must be made of the contribution of piano player and vocalist Steve Burke. Steve suffered a stroke during the culmination of these recordings which left him unable to sing and play in the way that he is featured here. His contributions to this record and to the universe of music in general are celebrated here for the enjoyment of all. Proof that there are Scattered Jewels everywhere, if you look.
